Chia Seed Breakfast, Fruit Rolls Ups, Macadamia Nut Butter with banana, carrots or celery, Kale Chips, Living Chili

Here are some easy breezy Back-To-School recipes from episode 4, for the kids and YOU! Aired 08-26-11.

*Chia Seed Breakfast


¼ cup chia seeds
2 cups water
1 cup berries or any fruit, (kiwi, grapefruit, peaches and mango are lovely)
Pour chia seeds in glass bowl, then cover with water and stir. Let stand for twenty minutes, stirring occasionally.

Put fruit in food processor with the chop tool and purée.  Simply stir in to chia seeds and enjoy.

 

 

 

 

*For Fruit Rolls Ups
2 cups fruit, any kind, I like berries or apples best
2 Tbsp chia seeds

Purée fruit in food processor. Stir in dry chia, spread on teflex sheet in dehydrator. Dehydrate 6 hours on both sides.

 

*Macadamia Nut Butter with banana, carrots or celery
2 cups mac nuts (or any kind of nut) soaked in water at least 6 hours
2 Tbsp raw honey
1 tsp sea salt
1 Tbsp macadamia nut oil, or sesame oil, (any kind of cold pressed organic oil)

Mix in food processor for 3-6 minutes, depending on how creamy or chunky you want it.

Serve with sliced banana, carrots or celery and raisins.

 

 

 

 

*Kale Chips
1 bundle kale
½ cup olive oil
1 tbsp tamari or nama shoyu
1 tbsp yellow mustard

Wash and de-stem kale leaves..  Mix up dressing ingredients.  Pour on kale and massage into kale for 2 min. Put on dehydrator mesh sheet, dehydrate 12 hours or until cruncky.

 

 

 

*Living Chili
3 bell peppers (red, orange, yellow)
2 large tomatoes
1 carrot
1 glove garlic
2 sprigs cilantro
½ cup sun dried tomatoes
1 avocado
1.5 Tbsp chili powder
1 Tbsp oregano (or 2 sprigs fresh)
1 Tbsp basil (or 2 sprigs fresh)
½ Tbsp Cumin
¼ cup soaked almonds (optional)
½ cup lemon juice or water
dash sea salt

Place all in gradients in food processor with chop tool and process until desired consistency.
